The negative stigma of Covid-19 patients makes some people reluctant to be examined.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia has not been able to reach the standard contact tracing or contact tracing of patients positive for Covid-19. Standards that world epidemiologists believe in, tracing it will be optimal if 80 percent of positive cases can identify the origin of transmission or close contact. Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19 Wiku Adisasmito said Indonesia had not yet been able to reach this figure.
“It simply came to our notice then contact tracing in Indonesia it is still not up to the standards set. This situation occurs due to limited human resources and the size of the area in Indonesia as well as existing health facilities. On the one hand, the stigma in society regarding Covid-19 hinders the process tracing this, “said Wiku in a press statement, Thursday (8/10).
The negative stigma against patients with Covid-19 makes some people reluctant to undergo examinations. This is what makes tracing becomes obstructed because there is close contact with Covid-19 patients who do not want to undergo a swab test.
According to him, one of the solutions to boost tracing is to control Covid-19 at a more massive micro level. Puskesmas and regional health offices need to be more aggressive in handling Covid-19 more massively at the village and sub-district levels. This scheme has often been conveyed by President Jokowi as mini-lockdown or micro-scale social restrictions.
“And the puskesmas as a functional implementing unit can improve the quality of its human resources by tracing training or the deployment of personnel in the field, the number of human resources is still not evenly distributed,” said Wiku.
