China’s Mars mission, called Tianwen-1 (Questions to the Sky), consists of an orbital craft, a landing craft, and a rover vehicle. Tianwen-1 was launched into space on July 23, 2020, and “Zhurong”, which means the god of fire and war in Chinese mythology, reached Mars in February with the Tianwen-1 spacecraft.

It was announced that the cabin, consisting of the traveler and the landing vehicle, landed on Utopia Planitia in the northern part of Mars on May 15.

Thus, China became the second country after the USA to land on the surface of Mars and use a reconnaissance vehicle on the surface. The Soviet Union’s vehicle, which landed on Mars in 1971, stopped signaling after landing.
