Toyota is expected to launch a new entry-level off-road vehicle. It was previously rumored that the name of the car would be Land Hopper. However, at the 2023 Tokyo Mobile Show, it was confirmed that it will be a micro electric three-wheeler. Now foreign media have revealed that Toyota has applied for it in Japan. A new trademark for Land Cruiser FJ has been registered. Although it remains to be clarified how the original manufacturer will use it, it is expected to become the name of the new car.

FJ Cruiser is a mid-size off-road vehicle launched by Toyota in 2006. It has a lovely retro appearance and powerful Off-Road capabilities. It is also seen on the roads in Taiwan. After the Final Edition was launched in the Middle East in December last year , it has officially withdrawn from the global market. Judging from the new Land Cruiser FJ trademark, it is a perfect name for an entry-level off-road vehicle.
According to previous information, the new car will have a compact size of 4,350 x 1,860 x 1,880 mm, and its main competitors will be the Ford Bronco Sport, Suzuki Jimny and other popular small off-road SUVs. The appearance maintains a square and retro style, and is expected to combine the features of the Compact Cruiser EV concept car and the new generation Land Cruiser 250.

In terms of power, it is expected to be mainly fuel and petrol-electric hybrids, including 2.4-liter turbo, 2.4-liter turbo Hybrid, and even RAV4 Prime’s 2.5-liter plug-in petrol-electric power. The combined output can reach 306 horsepower, and with AWD four-wheel drive system enables off-road capabilities.
It is worth mentioning that after an inquiry by this newspaper, we found that Toyota has also applied for the Land Cruiser FJ in Taiwan, saying that after the new car is released, it is also expected to be sold in China.
