The Japanese automobile company “Toyota Motor Corp.” The Daihatsu division announced on Wednesday that it is suspending deliveries of all models currently in production, taking into account information about the falsification of car safety tests.
“Daihatsu has decided today to temporarily stop deliveries of all Daihatsu models currently manufactured both in Japan and abroad,” the company says.
An independent panel of experts was set up this year to investigate the security scandal, which first came to light in April.
The investigation found 174 new violations in 25 test categories, which are in addition to the deficiencies already discovered in April and May, which affected door components and side impact tests, according to “Toyota”.
A total of 64 car models are now related to these violations, including 22 sold by Toyota.
In a summary of the report published on Wednesday, the independent commission attributed Daihatsu’s violations to a number of factors, including “extreme pressure, given an overly tight and tight development schedule, and lack of managerial experience.”
In April, Daihatsu admitted to falsifying crash test results for four models, covering a total of 88,000 cars built in Thailand and Malaysia last year and this year.
In May, however, the company announced that it was suspending the production of two hybrid models in Japan due to similar violations. Among these models was the Toyota Raize, which was produced for the parent company.
As certification is “a key prerequisite for an automaker to do business, we recognize the extreme seriousness of Daihatsu’s negligence, which has shaken the company’s very foundations as an automaker,” Toyota said in a statement.
“Toyota” and “Daihatsu” say that the companies do not have information about accidents caused by falsification of safety tests, but a full-fledged inspection is being carried out.
