Mitsuoka’s design experiments often provoke stormy reactions, but they obviously work commercially.

Not so long ago, we also wrote about Auto.cz new model Mitsuoka Budy. The overcooked Toyota RAV4, whose design was heavily inspired by the stately American SUVs of the late 1980s and 1990s, then provoked a variety of reactions around the world. In the end, Mitsuoka enjoys it best.
The company boasted that it sold out all production in just four days. At present, only 200 units are planned for production, but the cars will not be produced until the next two years. In 2023, Mitsuoka expects to pre-sell the second batch.

The Mitsuoka Buddy SUV is truly unique only in its design, which relies on redesigned body panels, new bumpers with a proper layer of chrome, a significantly chrome mask inspired by the older Chevrolet Tahoe, modified lights and other retro-details.
Under this design tinsel, however, hides the classic Toyota RAV4, standardly supplied with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an output of about 168 hp. However, there is also a hybrid version of the Mitsuoka Buddy on offer, which relies on the proven 2.5-liter hybrid with 175 horsepower.

All this fun starts at an amount of some CZK 982,000. Compared to the standard Toyota RAV4, customers on the domestic Japanese market will pay extra for CZK 437,000 for their unique appearance. But who decides for the top hybrid, Mitsuoka will cost up to CZK 1,223,000.
