In Europe, Toyota plans to introduce six battery electric models (BEVs) by 2026, but now Toyota is giving a more detailed look at the upcoming offering with the unveiling of the Urban SUV Concept.
The new car will be the most compact in the planned family of six BEV models and will be launched on the market in 2024. It will be part of a diverse portfolio of electrified products that will help Toyota Motor Europe achieve its goal of offering only zero-emission vehicles by 2035 and becoming completely carbon neutral by 2040.
Toyota already holds a prominent position in the B-SUV segment with the hybrid Yaris Cross, which is the best-selling model in its class. The company has used this experience to develop an authentic battery electric SUV, which is endowed with real versatility and meets the priorities of European customers, as well as embodies the main characteristics of the brand – quality, durability and reliability.
Design and engineering without compromise
The Toyota Urban SUV Concept is an authentic SUV with a compact body with strong shoulders and a high seating position. The easily adaptable interior is designed to be as spacious as possible, and it can be easily adapted to the needs of a particular moment – to transport passengers or luggage.
The Urban SUV will be available with both front and all-wheel drive, as all-wheel drive is an integral part of Toyota’s product DNA. Also, two types of batteries will be offered for the production model, and customers will be able to choose the battery capacity that suits their needs and priorities in terms of availability or mileage reserve.
The length of the new car is 4300 mm, width 1820 mm and height 1620 mm. More detailed information about the production model will be announced in 2024.
