Toyota Unveils Two New Battery Electric Vehicle Concepts at Shanghai Motor Show

Toyota has unveiled two new battery electric vehicle (BEV) concepts, the bZ Sport Crossover Concept and the bZ FlexSpace Concept, at the Shanghai Motor Show. Models are being developed within the Toyota bZ series, in which electric vehicles of the Japanese company are assembled.

These concepts will later be embodied in product modules that will be released to the Chinese market as early as 2024 and will be one of 10 electric vehicle models that Toyota plans to release by 2026. The bZ Sport Crossover Concept is an electric crossover with an active and distinctive style. It was developed jointly by Toyota and BYD. It will be produced and sold by FAW Toyota Motor.

At the same time, the bZ FlexSpace Concept is a family-friendly electric SUV designed with convenience in mind. It is being jointly developed by Toyota, Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC), GAC Toyota Motor and TMEC and is planned to be manufactured and sold by GAC Toyota Motor. The Toyota bZ FlexSpace electric vehicle offers generous interior space, ease of use, enhanced safety and long range.

Toyota is accelerating the expansion of its electric vehicle lineup with local partners to offer higher value products that are more appealing to customers in China.
