Automaker Toyota Motor will cease production of the popular Camry sedan for the Japanese market before the end of this year. This was reported on Thursday by the Nikkei newspaper.
At the same time, the auto giant will continue to produce this model for foreign markets.
The company has already sent notifications to dealerships. Sales in the Japanese market will be curtailed in several stages. At the first, dealers have already begun to suspend taking new orders for the Camry.
The reason for this decision was the annual decline in sales of this model in Japan. Japanese consumers are now increasingly opting for the larger Crown. At the same time, in the markets of the USA, China and Southeast Asia, the Camry sedan continues to be popular.
The model has been produced since 1980.
