Jakarta –
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has officially launched the newest Prius Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV). This car will be sold starting March 15, 2023.
The latest generation of the Toyota Prius was developed with the Hybrid Reborn concept. This car is sold in one type, namely the Prius PHEV type Z.
“The new Prius has evolved into an exhilarating package that adds design that inspires love at first sight and captivating driving performance to be its main strengths as an eco-friendly car,” Toyota wrote in a press release.
Previously, Toyota had launched a hybrid version of the Prius in January 2023. Now it’s the PHEV version’s turn to be launched.
The Prius PHEV is equipped with a newly developed 2,000 cc Plug-In Hybrid engine. The machine produces a maximum power of up to 223 PS, double that of the previous model. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h only takes 6.7 seconds.
Fuel consumption is also very economical. Armed with 19-inch tires, this car can record fuel efficiency figures of 26 km/liter. With 17 inch tires even more economical to 30.1 km / liter.
The Prius PHEV can go by relying solely on the electric battery without siphoning up gas for a distance of 87 km with 19-inch tires and 105 km with 17-inch tires.
The Prius PHEV is equipped with Regeneration Boost, which is useful on mountain roads and in other situations that require regular switching between acceleration and braking. When set, this function provides a stronger than normal regenerative braking force for responsive driving performance while reducing the frequency of switching between the accelerator and brake pedals.
One of the unique features of the Prius PHEV is that it can be used as a generator for various needs. The electricity stored in the battery can provide energy for outdoor activities, recreation and more. This car can also serve as a power supply during power outages, disasters, and other emergencies. With a full battery charge and a full gas tank, this system can provide enough electricity for about five days of use.
The new Prius PHEV is equipped with a second-generation solar charging system that efficiently converts solar energy into electricity. This system provides enough power to drive up to 1250 km per year in BEV mode. With highly efficient solar panels mounted on the roof of the vehicle, the battery can be charged in parking lots where there are no charging stations, or even during a power failure due to disaster or other causes, as long as the sun is shining.
How much does it cost? In Japan, the Toyota Prius PHEV is sold at 4,600,000 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 519.2 million.
