Jakarta –
Car sales in Indonesia experienced a significant increase in March 2022. Citing wholesale distribution data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) in March 2022, wholesale sales reached 98,536 units. Meanwhile, retail sales penetrated 89,821 units.
The application of Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM) discounts for certain car segments is considered to have played a major role in this increase. On the other hand, the automotive exhibition that was held also boosted sales.
Toyota is still the best-selling car brand and is at the top with wholesale sales of 33,344 units and retail of 30,935 units. In second place is still filled by Daihatsu with the achievement of wholesale sales of 17,465 units and retail of 16,318 units.
Honda is one level below Daihatsu. Honda’s wholesale sales reached 12,975 units and retail sales of 9,554 units. Then in fourth place is occupied by Mitsubishi Motors. On a wholesale basis, Mitsubishi’s sales are below Honda’s at 11,501 units. But when it comes to retail sales, Mitsubishi is superior to Honda with 10,592 units.
There is a tough competition between Wuling and Hyundai. In February 2022, Hyundai overtook the Chinese manufacturer Wuling’s sales notch. However, in March 2022, Wuling returned to fume the manufacturer from the Ginseng Country.
