Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) plant in Sakarya, Turkey has started production of the second generation C-HR crossover for the European market.
The press release says that Toyota has invested 308 million euros in the production plant of the model, making it the first factory of the Japanese car company in Europe, which will also produce plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the necessary battery pack, which is also an absolute novelty for Toyota’s operation in Europe.
Since its launch in 2016, the compact SUV coupe has sold more than 800,000 units. The second generation model will be available with electrified engines developed in Europe, including a 1.8-liter hybrid unit with 140 hp, a 2.0-liter hybrid unit with 198 hp, as well as a Plug-in plug-in hybrid with a total power of 223 hp and the ability to drive up to 65 kilometers only in electric mode.
