Toyota Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy Calls for Government Incentives for Hybrid Electrified Vehicles in Indonesia

Jakarta

Talking about electrified cars is varied. Not only electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and hybrids are also included, because several percent use battery power to drive them. Responding to the current rise in electrified vehicles, Toyota is grateful to see the development of the hybrid car market in Indonesia which continues to grow.

“We also say that we are very happy with the development of hybrids in Indonesia in particular, because they are very well received by the public and the sales volume is also very large, exceeding our expectations, and we continue to see the potential for other segments to be filled with hybrid variants,” said the Marketing Director PT Toyota Astra Motor, Anton Jimmi Suwandy during the Toyota 2024 media gathering, Friday (2/2/2024).

On this occasion, Anton again said that it was time for the government to provide incentives for hybrid electrified vehicles.

“Friends, see for yourself that the government regulations support a lot for BEVs, we have to study several segments, at what price, because our goal is not only to introduce hybrids, but will the product be sold or not? Will it be accepted by the market or not? So we continue “discussing with all parties including the government, we hope it’s not just BEVs,” said Anton.

“Whether it’s plug in hybrid or hybrid, support can also be given from the government and can be accepted by the market, because all this technology has costs and we see it like in other countries, like in Thailand, hybrids are given subsidies, not only BEVs, so I’ll give you an example “The price of the Yaris Cross Hybrid is even the same as the price of petrol. And finally Toyota Thailand no longer sells petrol (cars) and only sells hybrids. In Indonesia hybrids are still more expensive than petrol, maybe these supports need to be developed in the future,” concluded Anthony.
