The Autocar server, which refers to sources inside Japan’s largest carmaker, came up with reports of the potential emergence of a sharp version of the Toyota bZ4X electric SUV. However, there has been speculation about the creation of the GR version since Toyota showed the SUV in the conceptual variant of the GR Sport at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Move Electric recently interviewed daisuk Idem, chief engineer of the bZ4X, who confirmed that he was communicating with GR engineers. However, the dialogue still did not take concrete shape. According to him, such a step is very complicated. The performance of the electric car is not a problem, but the correct handling can be difficult. “It’s always a challenge,” he said.

The bZ4X model was created on the shared E-TNGA platform, which is very flexible and according to many could serve well for the GR version. The proof is that it can host single-engine and twin-engine versions of electric cars.

The SUV will be produced in both variants with outputs of 210 and 215 hp. However, the platform can accommodate a variety of performances, as the sister Lexus RX450e arrives at 309 horsepower.
