Like most automakers, Toyota uses the reputation of its sports division, Gazoo Racing, to offer, in addition to the sharp GR models, a more affordable version of the GR Sport with conventional propulsion.

Inside, there are sports seats upholstered in a combination of black leather and artificial velor with red perforation and contrast stitching. The GR Sport designation can also be found on the seat backs, carpets, engine start button and in the animation on the information display.

The driver can use paddles under the steering wheel for manual shifting; The car is also equipped with aluminum pedals. The cab also differs thanks to the carbon-fiber trim panels, the red line across the entire width of the instrument panel and the blue backlighting of the door panels.

From a technical point of view, GR Sport has a standard four-cylinder with a displacement of 2.8 liters and an output of 150 kW, 204 hp. The 500 Nm torque unit works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The maximum payload remains at 1 ton and the car tightens a braked trailer weighing up to 3.5 tonnes.

The suspension is special for GR Sport, which makes the mere edition something more interesting. The improved wheel suspension system includes new single-shell shock absorbers and springs on the front axle. According to Toyota, the single-shell design made it possible to increase piston area in favor of better damping properties, including faster response and better heat dissipation.

“The design also helps to better preserve the quality parameters of the oil in the shock absorbers while tackling the most demanding conditions. The coil springs of the front axle are stiffer and, together with the new shock absorbers, are painted red, ”the report said, adding that the leaf springs on the rear axle have also changed.

The novelty will reach European markets in the summer at an unspecified price.
