The Toyota Crown range will become a separate brand. The Japanese concern plans to produce entry-level premium models under the new brand, reports Autohome.
The Crown brand will occupy a niche in the group hierarchy between Toyota and Lexus. The new Crown branding will first appear in China, which is where the new branding was introduced.
The first models of the new brand are the Crown Kluger (a more expensive version of the seven-seat Toyota Highlander crossover) and the Crown Vellfire, a luxury version of the Alphard minivan. They were introduced in China in 2021 and were sold as Toyota until recently.
After that, the Crown SportCross all-terrain sedan (presented as the 16th generation Toyota Crown) will appear on the market. It will be sold not only in Asia, but also in America – the model is expected to be presented in 40 countries around the world. The Crown SportCross will only be available in hybrid versions up to 345PS.
