One of the most anticipated sports cars this year is celebrating its first sales successes, but so far they are mostly connected with virtual reality.

Toyota GR Yaris, one of the most anticipated super hot hatches of recent years, is said to be a decent bestseller. Both in the real world, as evidenced, for example, by the rapid sale of stocks in the Australian market, and in the virtual world. Toyota boasted impressive sales figures from Gran Turismo Sport.
The Toyota GR Yaris was only added to this popular racing series on November 13, but players have already bought over 310,000 sharp sports hatchbacks, according to Toyota Gazoo Racing, referring to Sony, the maker of PlayStation game consoles.

This is not the only virtual success of the Toyota Gazoo Racing sports division. In addition to the GR Yaris, the GR Supra is also on sale, adding 1,170,000 units sold for the 2019 model year and another 620,000 units sold for the 2020 model year.
The addition of GR Yaris to Gran Turismo Sport was quite an unexpected surprise, according to the game magazine GT Planet. However, the sales success could be significantly helped by two competitions, which were connected with the new GR Yaris. One of them offered the opportunity to win the new generation of the PlayStation 5 game console.

The Virtual Yaris GR is also significantly more affordable than its real version. The price on the Czech market starts at CZK 899,000, however, it can easily swing over a million crowns. But Toyota knows well what it is paying for. This car doesn’t have many competitors.
The basis is a unique platform, which is a combination of platforms GA-B (front) and GA-C (rear). It’s under the hood of GR Yaris the most powerful three-cylinder in the world, offering a maximum output of 192 kW and 360 Nm torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed manual that sends power to all wheels. GR Yaris will break the 100 km / h limit in 5.5 seconds and can run up to 230 km / h.
