Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) Garage: Performance Tuning and Modification for Car Enthusiasts in Jakarta

Toyota is currently promoting the Gazoo Racing (GR) variant. For this reason, various models are offered with Gazoo Racing parts.

If you look at the price offered, the Gazoo Racing part is not cheap, for example the All New Yaris Cross is offered in various variants. The All New Yaris Cross is currently offered a G Type variant without GR Parts Rp. 351 million, S Type with GR Parts Aero Package Rp. 407,700,000, and SHV Type with GR Parts Aero Package Rp. 440,600,000 (Hybrid). This means that the price offered is indeed more expensive. Then who are the target consumers of Gazoo Racing (GR).

“The profile of the owner of Gazoo Racing (GR), this is definitely a car enthusiast, not just the rich. If maintenance is normal, it will definitely go to the dealer,” said Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy.

Anton added that car enthusiast consumers often visit tuning workshops, so they can maximize engine performance. This is what made Toyota turn on Gazoo Racing (GR) Garage.

“But now there are a lot of tuning workshops, so this is what we hope for with the GR Garage, we hope to be able to support it (tuning),” said Anton.

“Even we see from GR Garage in Japan, there are people who have money who want to race, they will receive lessons from the start, how to get a starting permit, what kind of modified car, what is the budget, what class do you want to race, we can also help at GR Garage. So this might be the difference, maybe there are also rich people who prefer to use a Lexus. But for car enthusiasts, that’s different,” Anton added.

For the record, Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) as the agent holding the Toyota brand in Indonesia will present Gazoo Racing (GR) Garage this year.

“This year we will launch the GR Garage. The difference with the GR Corner, the GR Garage is a facility to support consumers who really want to support it in terms of performance,” said Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy.

“GR Garage is not focused on repairs and will focus on tuning, modification, and accessories. So people who have a sports spirit and hobbies can come there, and this is not an ordinary mechanic but a specially certified mechanic. We will provide support and details later,” Anton added.

Anton said, as the first step a new GR Garage would be established at one of the Toyota dealers in Jakarta.

“One first (GR Garage), and the dealer who will run (manage GR Garage), the place is new and specifically for GR Garage, the design is different, the feel is different and is currently being prepared to be introduced and this will be in the Jakarta area first,” said Jimmi.
