At the end of last year, Toyota introduced the FJ Cruiser Final Edition in the Middle East, which was a clear sign that the model will soon be discontinued in one of the few regions where it is available. Now, this clear sign has been confirmed by Toyota, who said that the FJ Cruiser is coming off the assembly line after 17 years on the market.
Our colleagues at Cars.co.za recently announced that the FJ Cruiser is no longer available in South Africa and after contacting Toyota’s local division, they have received confirmation that the model has been discontinued, not just in the country. The global discontinuation of the FJ Cruiser comes five years after the model stopped being offered in the US and Japan, where it also duly shipped with a Final Edition version.
At the end of its production, the FJ Cruiser was offered in a limited run of 1,000 units with a beige exterior contrasting with a few black elements, and a similar color scheme was chosen for the interior. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter gasoline V6 with a power of about 270 horsepower and a maximum torque of 380 newton meters. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes about 7.6 seconds.
