Toyota-Astra Motor Announces Recall for Veloz, Avanza, and Raize Cars for ECU Airbag Replacement

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) announced a recall program for several cars it sells. This is Toyota’s step to maintain quality and responsibility for the safety and comfort of customers.

This time, Toyota announced a recall for Veloz, Avanza and Raize cars to check and/or replace the ECU Airbag. The units involved in this recall are cars produced from December 2022 to January 2023.

“In line with Toyota Motor Corp’s global initiative principal, TAM has carried out recall activities on certain products for many years as a form of our commitment to prioritizing customer safety and security,” said Vice President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto, in a press release, Monday (5/6/2023).


“Owners of the models mentioned above are advised to contact Toyota or come to the nearest Toyota dealer network to check their vehicle’s ECU Airbag, and if necessary, replace the ECU Airbag component at an authorized Toyota repair shop,” said Henry.

The recall activity for Veloz, Avanza and Raize with production years December 2022-January 2023 was carried out due to a malfunction in one of the Airbag ECU capacitors. This causes the potential for the Airbag to not operate properly.

In order for the Airbag to function normally, customers of these cars are asked to immediately go to the dealer. Overall, the checking process until the work takes about 1 hour. For the process, customers are advised to make a service booking in advance, so that dealers can prepare stalls, technicians, and parts to be replaced. And the entire inspection and replacement process is free of charge or free.

The entire Toyota dealer network, which currently numbers 298 workshops spread across all regions in Indonesia, is also involved to ensure customers immediately check and replace their vehicle’s ECU Airbag components.

Toyota will also inform consumers through various communication channels. In addition, consumers can contact the nearest authorized dealer network and can contact Toyota Customer Care (24 hours) at telephone number 1-500-315.

Consumers can also access www.toyota.astra.co.id/ssc to check the frame number and will then be given information whether their vehicle is included in Toyota’s recall program. Furthermore, consumers are directed to go to the nearest dealer and make repairs (if needed).

“Recall activities or product recalls that are already in the hands of consumers are commonplace, including for motor vehicle manufacturers. At Toyota, recalls are carried out as part of the effort and commitment to present ever-better cars to ensure product quality and maintain security and safety. customers,” Toyota wrote.
