“Toxic” wins the Golden Tiger Award at the Locarno Film Festival

The feature film “Toxic” won the Golden Leopard Award at the 77th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.

The film, the first feature film by Lithuanian director Sauli Pliuvaiti, tells the story of the daily lives of two girls under the pressure of beauty standards.

German filmmakers were honored for their work, which was screened outside the festival’s main competition.

The Russian group of artists “Attack 51”, whose members live in Paris and is financed by German and Russian producers, won the Silver Tiger Award in the experimental competition “Tigers of Tomorrow” for their short film “Hegemony of the Plague”.

German director Willy Hans received an honorable mention for his first feature film, “Der Flick,” which was screened in the “Future Filmmakers” competition for young directors.
