The Valencian Community this week has overcome the barrier of four thousand outbreaks of coronavirus since the first was notified at the end of June and has reached 4,100, in which about 21,200 people have been infected, which is an average of 5’17 affected by outbreak. Of the 542 municipalities that make up the Valencian Community, there are already 326 that have registered an outbreak of covid-19, which implies 60.2% of the total, according to data from the Ministry of Health collected by the Agency EFE. Of the total outbreaks registered in these six months in the Community, 72% have occurred in the social sphere, followed at a great distance from the workplace, where they originated in 18.7%, and from the educational one, where they have been 6.5% recorded. The remaining 2.8% is attributed to other areas (community, mixed or extra-community).

THE PROVINCE WITH THE MOST OUTBREAKS

The province that has registered the most covid outbreaks between June and December is Valencia, where 63.7% of them have occurred, while 23.7% and 12.6% have been registered in Alicante. % corresponds to the province of Castellón.

In the province of Valencia, coronavirus outbreaks have been confirmed in 182 municipalities, which represents 68.4% of the 266 that make up this province, while in Alicante there have been outbreaks in 85 of its 141 municipalities, which represents 60.3% of the total municipalities in the province.

In Castellón, the covid outbreaks have affected 59 of the 135 municipalities in the province, which implies that 43.7 percent of the Castellón towns have had at least one coronavirus outbreak.

CITIES WITH MOST OUTBREAKS

A total of 38 cities in the Valencian Community have registered more than 20 outbreaks this semester: 21 from the province of Valencia, 11 towns from Alicante, and 6 from the province of Castellón.

In addition, there is a municipality in the Region that has already exceeded a thousand outbreaks -the city of Valencia has counted more than 1,120-, and other localities that have exceeded a hundred outbreaks: Elche (Alicante), with 162 outbreaks; Castelló, with 137, and Sagunto (Valencia), with 101.

In the province of Valencia, the towns with the most outbreaks are, in addition to Valencia (1,121) and Sagunto (101), Ontinyent (67), Paterna (57), Burjassot (43), Alzira (41), Gandia (39) , Puçol (38), Requena (37), Xàtiva (33), Llíria (30), Algemesí (28), Utiel (26), Alboraia, Alfafar and Moncada (25), Mislata (24), Carlet and Pobla de Vallbona (23), Bétera (22) and Catarroja (20).

In the province of Alicante, the municipalities that have had the most covid outbreaks are Elche (162), Alicante and Orihuela, with 81 each, Alcoi (52), Torrevieja (38), Denia (37), Elda (32), Almoradí and Benidorm, with 29 each, Callosa de Segura (27) and Ibi (24).

The towns of Castellón with the most coronavirus outbreaks have been, in addition to the capital, with 137, Vinarós (58), Benicarló (38), Onda (32), Vila-real (33) and La Vall d’uixó (23) .

OUTBREAKS WITH MORE CASES

The largest outbreak was that originated in a party at the Galileo Galilei residence hall in Valencia, which affected 168 people and forced the classes of 25,000 students to be suspended at the beginning of October, followed by one in Gandia (Valencia), with 158 cases and which led to the closure of the local nightlife in mid-July for two weeks.

In the province of Alicante, the outbreaks in a nursing home in Pilar de la Horadada stand out, with 80 cases, and in another in Elda, with 71, and in the province of Castellón an outbreak in Peñíscola with 67 affected and another in the capital with 35 cases.
