The file is progressing, although it had taken a little delay in recent years: the requalification of the 18,100 m² left free by CRS 36 in 2012, on the heights of Guentrange. A site steeped in history.
The Crève-Coeur barracks were built by the Germans in 1908 as part of the fortified group of Guentrange. Until 1918, it was occupied, in rotation, by one of the four foot artillery companies, stationed at the fort. Between 1918 and 1930, the buildings were emptied, before a French infantry unit stayed there until 1939. Reinvested by the Germans during the Second World War, the barracks was bought by the City of Thionville in 1946 for organize municipal summer camps there.

Move to Châtel-Saint-Germain in 2012
In the mid-1950s, the State bought the buildings to install the CRS 36 (then CRS 72). This CRS 72 was created in Metz in 1945. Shortly after, it moved to Sarreguemines. In 1954, a first detachment was assigned to Thionville. The unit was fully reunited in 1957 and became CRS 36 in 1963.
The CRS 36 was part of the landscape of Guentrange for more than half a century, before being moved to Châtel-Saint-Germain, in 2012. The buildings were then abandoned, squatted, and even burned down in November 2015, before being decontaminated, in 2016 and 2017. For safety reasons, a building of 400 m² is razed. The site was bought by the Lorraine Public Land Establishment, mandated by the City of Thionville to carry out the work.

“A premium location”
“I waited until 2021 to associate this project with the complete requalification of the Côte des Roses,” explains Pierre Cuny. We are therefore launching a call for promoters and will constitute a jury made up of elected representatives by the majority, elected representatives from the opposition, and residents. Work will begin in 2022 ”.
If the mayor does not yet know what will be the new face of this large hectare, he announces the color: “I will be demanding on the specifications. I want housing, but only quality housing, with around sixty housing units, houses and one or two small collectives. This is a premium location that will end well this Crève-Coeur route. At the same time, we will requalify and secure this axis. “
