The series “Town Hall Clubbing – the Town Hall as the City’s Stage” has successfully set the tone with the concerts in the inner courtyard of the Town Hall. On Sunday, September 8th, from 6 p.m., the inner courtyard will once again become a dance stage. Several DJs and live acts invite you to a collective dance in the inner courtyard of the Town Hall – fittingly for the end of the Bochum Music Summer. Admission is free.
The “Cute Community Space” and the Cute Community Radio anchored within it have recently established themselves as a place and platform for the production and publication of migrant and diasporic club and pop culture and are received internationally. It was founded by DJ Guy Dermosessian, who has developed numerous event formats over the past fifteen years with the music label Kalakuta Soul Records and the Kalakuta Soul Picnic named after it. For the town hall clubbing, Dermosessian is now designing the “Cute Community Hangout”, an invitation to make migrant and diasporic club and pop culture visible in the most public place in the city and to celebrate the music of outstanding and inspiring artists and DJs.

The first act is the Essen DJ and co-founder of the Global South Sound collective ADJO, who combines soul, R&B, highlife and Afrobeats in her sets. The Cologne rapper Leila Akinyi will then perform. The artist, born in Mombasa, has been one of the most celebrated voices in Germany’s rap and hip hop scene for ten years now, with songs such as “Slumdog”, “Fernseher” and “Alien”. In the world of rap and on the stage of the “Cute Community Hangout” this year two more names represent a new era of diversity and expression: Bounty & Cocoa. They represent a movement that promotes the visibility of a wide variety of communities through their lyrics. Their cheeky, direct and self-determined messages make them pioneers of a new generation in rap. DJ Mala will bring the evening to a close. The Berliner is known for her versatile sets and effortlessly brings together Afrobeats, Dancehall, Baile Funk and bangers from the MENA region for a very special vibe.
