The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training intends to boost the New Secondary program for this new academic year. Indeed, the director of secondary education, Maxime Mesilas, during a press conference on Friday, September 24, announces a set of interventions in order to fill certain gaps in the said program.
Port-au-Prince, September 24, 2021.- From the outset, Maxime Mesilas explains that the new Minister of National Education relies heavily on teacher training. And as a result, training will be organized for teachers from New Secondary 1 to New Secondary 4. The minister will ensure the application of the ministry’s programs by teachers.
In addition to training, didactic and educational materials will be made available to teachers. In this regard, Mr Mesilas commends the efforts of Minister Marie Lucie Joseph, who also was director of secondary education.
The training will begin in the great South, which was severely affected by the earthquake of August 14, 2021. Psychologists will be made available to schools. Discussions are underway with the Faculties of Ethnology and Human Sciences to be able to support the children.
“The New Secondary program prepares schoolchildren for success while the traditional secondary plans for their failure. Since the first year of New Secondary the child is channeled according to his ability, which was different in the traditional secondary ”, emphasizes Maxime Mesilas.
He announced that this year the MENFP will rely heavily on school supervision for the full success of the year and for quality education.
