The question of a new vote arises in Lamentin, after the appeal filed by the former mayor Reinette Juliard. The public rapporteur pleaded in this direction …
The case was put under advisement on December 17. Regarding the Lamentin elections, the Administrative Court of Basse-Terre examined the file to which were added the elements of a judicial inquiry opened in November. These elements to charge seem sufficiently heavy for the public rapporteur to request the cancellation of the ballot.
Too many irregularities according to the complainant
The hearing was held on Thursday, December 10. It follows an investigation conducted on November 27, in the premises of the mayor of the town.
On March 20, an electoral protest was lodged because of “irregularities and illegalities” put forward by the complainant.
Elements taken up by Maître Marialy Guyon, Reinette Juliard’s lawyer, who thus raised several complaints: the establishment of the electoral list, communication that is to say electoral propaganda, tainted according to her by irregularities “serious which tarnishes the analysis and sincerity made by the voters“. She also supported a large number of irregularities in the conduct of the campaign and voting operations in the town. Reporting, for example, of voters registered on the electoral rolls but not residing in Lamentin.
We would therefore move towards a cancellation of the elections. In any case, this is what the public rapporteur pleads. A first satisfaction for the complainant according to her lawyer.
