Shortly before 11 a.m., the Moselle department, which experienced an episode of violent wind overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, gradually recovered calm but was still in a state of alert yellow SMS (meteorological situation to watch), depending on the prefecture.
The orange storm tended, at the end of the morning, to move towards the east of the department.
The most affected sector is that of Metz-Sarreguemines. The area comprising Bitche, Phalsbourg and Sarrebourg was spared.
The wind gusts observed last night reached 90 km / h, the average measured was 50 km / h around 10:30 a.m.
If no victims or serious accidents are to be deplored, the meteorological episode mobilized 130 firefighters on a hundred interventions in the early morning.
The heaviest damage concerns the rail network. Torn cables fell on the tracks, causing a blackout. No TER on the Nancy-Metz-Luxembourg axis was running this morning, as was the TGV route, which stopped at Metz station. SNCF expected a return to normal around noon. No alternative automotive solution was considered.
