The Minister of Education Camélia Ntoutoume Leclerc made this proposal during the interministerial council which took place on July 19 in Gabon.

The measure that could apply during the next school year 2023-2024 session has not yet been approved. Indeed, during the interministerial council, the minister explained that this 25% reduction in registration fees in public establishments from pre-primary to secondary school will help to fight against the high cost of living in Gabon.

This measure concerns general, technical and vocational education, and is likely to apply from the start of the school year in September 2023. Camélia Ntoutoume also intends to impose, from the start of the next school year, a cap on the price of school uniforms in public, private and religious establishments.

Note that these projects will have to be presented at the next Council of Ministers, which will be chaired by Ali Bongo.
