Moreover, before their departure, Déclic Vélo had given a check for 400 euros to the October Rose association in Tournai.
It was on their Facebook page that the organizers of the Je Roule Sein-Glé challenge shared very bad news. Carine, a participant fell from her bike following the unconsciousness of an 87-year-old Belgian motorist who cut the road by burning a stop sign. The cycling enthusiast is now hospitalized with a broken ankle and bruises on her body.
Following the hit-and-run, the driver was caught by another motorist, who witnessed the scene. From then on, the 87-year-old lady was immobilized by several inhabitants of the village of Chalbis and was notified of the ban on leaving French territory before an immediate appearance in the coming days.
The entire Déclic Vélo team is wholeheartedly with poor Carine and wishes her a good recovery.
