Tourists Struggle with Heat Wave in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh

The heat wave is also starting to feel inside Vietnam. Tourists who holiday there admit they can’t stand the heat.

Reporting from VN Express on Thursday (2/5), Vietnam celebrates National Reunification Day and Labor Day. According to information from the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is at 37-39 degrees Celsius.

Yania, a tourist from Spain, said she arrived there on April 28. The first time she set foot there, Yania admitted that she was so hot, she felt like she was going to melt.

“HCMC is too hot,” he said.

Yania said that she walks around more in the city because the tourist facilities are nearby. The hot weather makes him tired and limits his outdoor activities in the middle of the day.

“I overcome this by wearing short, light clothes and bringing water, a tumbler and a hat,” he explained.

Australian tourist Grant Wilson did the same. He was on vacation for 5 days, Wilson only went out before 10am and after 5pm.

“The weather is very hot. Sitting in a stall in a shady road while drinking coffee, coconut water or fruit juice is an effective way to cool down,” he said.

A Vietnamese friend also invited him to Ca Mau in the Mekong Delta. However, he refused because the weather was very hot.

“Getting there on a crowded bus in the 40 degree Celsius sun, along with traffic jams and damaged roads, made me despair,” he replied.
