Tourists’ Parachute Accident on Promenade des Anglais: Injuries and Emergency Response

Two Asian tourists, a boy and a girl in their twenties, who were harnessed there, fell five meters, falling heavily on the pebbles of the Promenade des Anglais.

The accident occurred three meters from Negresco beach and close to Blue Beach.

“I saw the parachute unhook from the boattestifies Alexis Herber, lifeguard of the Blue Beach. The fall was brutal. Boats approach the beach through a sports channel. The rope must always be under tension. The key point is when the boat suddenly turns. At this turn, the parachute unhooked. They fell hard on the pebbles, held back a little by the parachute. Their luck is not to have fallen on a barrier or on someone. I ran as fast as possible to find out if they were conscious or not. When I arrived, the Negresco lifeguard was already there with her bag. They were aware. We checked the sensitivity of the limbs. Then I ran to the fire station to alert.”

The two tourists were medicalized on the spot, with suspicions of broken legs and back. The Samu, firefighters and police were present. The injured were taken to the emergency room at Pasteur Hospital.
