star Hill –
This tourist was conned by a barbershop with a nominal value of IDR 400,000. However, that alone made the minister intervene.
Reported from Channel News Asiaa pair of tourists from the Philippines and England on vacation to Malaysia. They are a TikTok content creator under the name zoe&czar and specialize in holiday content.
This being their debut coming to Malaysia, the aim is to explore star Hill. The area is known as a shopping paradise and entertainment center in Malaysia.
At that time, it was still light. The lovebirds were taking a walk there and decided to try a haircut for men. The native Filipino man entered a barbershop.
There, he received friendly service. The barber who is a worker from Algeria is wondering about his life now that he has moved to London.
His hands are skilled at trimming the right and left sides of the tourist’s head. The activity was also recorded for the purpose of content.
There are shrimp behind the rock, the friendly treatment given to tourists is a ‘mask’ to blackmail them. The tourist was shocked when he was billed to pay RM120 or around IDR 400,000 for a normal haircut.
These two tourists also tried to ask the local residents who were there. Residents who heard their story were also surprised, because the price for a barbershop haircut is usually only RM 50 or around Rp. 160 thousand. That’s already the most expensive price.

They came back to ask the barber why they were charging so much. The once friendly barber looks 180 degrees different when they return.
The barber explained drily. They say local residents are cheap because they don’t pay taxes, that’s the service, and so on.
These two lovers were emotional and left there.
Their video went viral and made Malaysia’s Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) intervene.
The New Straits Times reported KPDN Minister Salahudding Ayub that the ministry had been instructed to investigate the allegations.
“When I learned that there were foreign tourists who had to pay RM120 for just shaving, I immediately ordered officers to investigate,” he said.
The minister stressed that businesses should not take advantage of the situation to generate excessive profits.
“As a tourist destination, we must offer the best service and reasonable prices. This action has tarnished Malaysia’s good name,” he said.
If found guilty, the barbershop will be fined RM100,000 or jail for a maximum of 3 years, as a first offence.
At the KPDN, the barber admitted to his fraud and this happened to all the tourists who came there. This barbershop deliberately doesn’t even display price tags for the services offered.
“We have contacted the business owners and they will be summoned to the office for further investigation.
