According to information released by the NY Post, a constant flow of visitors is once again registered in the hotels of New York City, achieving the highest average hotel occupancy since June 2020.

Hotel occupancy in New York City, reached 47% in the week of March 7 to 13, the weekly average highest since late June 2020according to STR, a data company that monitors the hospitality sector. On the penultimate Saturday night (13), that number jumped to 61.5%, a significant increase from 38% in January, but still well below the pre-pandemic numbers of 87%, STR said.
The city’s Department of Tourism, NYC & Company, said it expects to welcome more than half of the city’s visitors this year compared to 2019 and that hotel occupancy last weekend was “better“that the city has had in almost a year. In 2019, 66.6 million tourists visited the city and that number fell in 2020 to 22.3 million as a result of the pandemic. NYC & Company projects an increase of 36.4 million visitors in 2021.
