Tourists are starting to return to Latvia; most frequent guests – from Germany

In November last year, 66,000 foreign and local guests were served in Latvian tourist accommodation, which is 31.1% more than in November 2020, but 63.6% less than in November 2019 before the pandemic, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.

Guests spent 127,500 nights in tourist accommodation, which is 4.6% more than in November 2020.

In November last year, 39,800 inhabitants of Latvia were served in tourist accommodation establishments, which is 6.7% more than in November 2020. The number of nights spent by local residents was 77,500, a decrease of 4.6% compared to November 2020.

The most popular accommodation places for Latvian residents were in Riga, where 34.7% of guests stayed, in Jurmala – 14.2%, in Liepaja – 7.5%, in Cesis region – 3.8% in Daugavpils – 3.7%, in Kuldiga region – 3.3 %, In Sigulda region – 2.9%,

In turn, 39.6% or 26,200 were foreign guests, which is twice as many as in November 2020, however, it is by 78.1% less than in November 2019.

The number of nights spent by foreign guests in November 2021, compared to November 2020, has increased by 22.9% and was 50,000.

Most foreign guests were from Germany (2700), Lithuania (2600), Estonia (2500), Russia (2000), Great Britain (1900), Poland (1400) and Ukraine (1100).

Most or 87.7% of foreign guests were received in Riga, 2.1% of foreigners stayed in Jurmala, but 2% in Liepaja.

In the 11 months of last year, a total of 1.2 million foreign and local guests were accommodated in tourist accommodation, which is by 14.5% less than in the 11 months of 2020 and by 54.4% less than in the corresponding period of 2019.
