Tourist weekend in Tornavacas on the passage of Carlos I towards Yuste

The figure of Emperor Charles I of Spain and his passage through the Cáceres town of Tornavacas on November 11, 1556, on the way to his retirement in Cuacos de Yuste, will be the common thread of some tourist days that will take place in this municipality of the Valle del Jerte.

The social and cultural groups of the municipality have joined forces with municipal officials to prepare a commemorative program that will take place this Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9, within the framework of the regional festival of the Autumn of the Jerte Valley.

Thus, an imperial market will be installed with the aim of transporting the town of Tornavacas to the historical moment in which Charles V of Germany spent the night in the town, as reported by the local Jerte action group, Soprodevaje.

This Friday the Historical Conference on Emperor Charles V will be inaugurated at the House of Culture, with the screening of a documentary about the monarch’s relationship with the town of Tornavacas and the traditional “Shearing Touch” through various streets of the municipality.

On Saturday the 9th there will be space for a imperial market with craft stalls and local products; tasting of traditional pinchos prepared by various local associations; Storytelling for the little ones.

Likewise, there will be an open day at the Las Cárceles Interpretation Center.

At 12:00 a.m. there will be a historical reenactment that commemorates the passage of Charles V through Tornavacas, in which the local population and a children’s dance group will participate, who will tour Real de Arriba Street, the Cimero Bridge, the Plaza de la Church and Calle Real de Abajo.

Music will be the protagonist at 4:00 p.m. in the Church of the Assumption with a concert by the Francisco de Sande Choir from Cáceres.

At sunset, second possibility to enjoy the Toque de la Esquila, which will follow the same route as the imperial procession except for passing through the Cimero Bridge.
