A tourist ship makes the Govt Thailand crying bombay. While the government is aggressively protecting nature, this ship is destroying it.

Reporting from Bangkok Post on Sunday (18/2), a tourist boat from Libong Travel toured Hat Chao Mai National Park, in Sikao District, Trang Province, Thailand.

A video on Monsoon Garbage Thailand’s Facebook page shows how sad the situation is. It can be seen that the tourist ship used a coral as an anchor. The coral is tied with a rope.

“Mooring bouys are available but they anchor the ship to the coral reef,” wrote the account.

This incident went viral and caught the attention of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Flora Conservation (DNP). Officials will look to the local tourism department and will look for a long-term solution.

DNP chairman Attapon Charoenchansa said that the case would be investigated by Koh Kradan National Park as part of its legal jurisdiction.

“The authorities have collected evidence and Hat Chao Mai National Park will take legal action against the perpetrators in accordance with national park law in 2019. In addition to fines, travelers will be prohibited from entering the national park area.” Attapon said.

The 2019 national park regulations state that violators of the law will be subject to a fine of up to Baht 500,000 or imprisoned for 5 years or both depending on the ecosystem damage done.

Attapon said that the national park would hold a meeting with all tour boat owners in Hat Chao Mai National Park to prevent the same thing from happening again.
