According to the diocese, pastoral care for tourists offers services, games, talks, excursions and creative activities, among other things. For example, holiday guests can help shape the family church services on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. The program is organized by a team of full-time employees and volunteers. The Diocese of Essen has been looking after German holidaymakers on the Dutch island for more than 50 years.
The diocese of Essen is one of the youngest and smallest of the 27 Roman Catholic dioceses in Germany. It is also the smallest diocese in North Rhine-Westphalia with 1,877 square kilometers and around 780,000 members.
