On Monday, July 17, a 47-year-old Phoenix woman was walking with another person along the north shore of Yellowstone Lake. They then encountered two bison. So they turned around and tried to walk away, but one of the bison charged at them and seriously injured the 47-year-old woman.
Hit in the chest and abdomen, the unfortunate woman was transported by helicopter to the hospital, specifies ABC. An investigation should determine how far away the two people were when they encountered the bison. It is indeed advisable to stay more than 25 meters from all large animals (bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, elk and coyotes) and at least 100 meters from bears and wolves.
But more and more tourists are not respecting these rules and lately some have been caught making selfies next to bison. Moreover, between mid-July and mid-August, it is the mating season for the bison, which are more aggressive. But this attack is the first reported since June 2022.
