The “Kafaa” program for the validation of acquired experience (VAE) aims to certify 7,550 professionals by 2026, with a first level of 1,100 certifications for the year 2024, indicated the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
This first wave covers a wide range of essential professions, such as reception, catering or accommodation, Ms. Ammor explained to MAP, adding that it goes from the receptionist to the chef, including hotel housekeepers and hotel managers.
And to support: “The idea is to create a virtuous circle. By valuing the skills of our professionals, we strengthen their motivation to offer the best of themselves, thus creating an unforgettable tourist experience.”
Considered an innovative initiative of the tourism roadmap, the result of a collaboration between the ministry and the National Tourism Confederation (CNT), the “Kafaa” program will enhance and certify the skills of tourism professionals who have not followed a traditional training course, but who have acquired experience and skills in the field over the years, recalled Ms. Ammor.
At the same time, Ms. Ammor revealed that the National Training Program, led by the ministry in collaboration with the Office of Vocational Training and Work Promotion (OFPPT) and the CNT, is making great strides.
“For the Cap Excellence component, we have selected 12 Vocational Training Establishments (VTE) across Morocco that will benefit from a real transformation. We will modernize their training offering, improve their governance and set up a quality management system,” she said.
This is an ambitious project that will be rolled out in two phases, with the upgrading of 6 establishments in 2024-2025, followed by 6 others in 2026, explained the minister, adding that some of these establishments will even offer training in partnership with renowned international institutes, which represents a great opportunity for students to access world-class training.
And he continued: “As far as training Middle Managers is concerned, we have identified the specific needs of the sector and developed a tailor-made certification program, with the aim of training and certifying more than 2,000 graduates per year. This is a real boost for our industry, because these middle managers play a key role in the quality of tourism services in our country.”
In addition, Ms. Ammor said that her department is developing an e-learning platform for Continuing Education of Excellence, with cutting-edge educational engineering and content perfectly adapted to the needs of the sector, with the aim of training 2,000 professionals each year.
She thus stressed that the ultimate objective of the ministry, through the “Kafaa” program and the National Training Program, is to create a dynamic and efficient training ecosystem for Moroccan tourism.
“We are deeply convinced that investing in our human resources is one of the keys to raising our tourism industry to the highest international level. By valuing the skills of our professionals and offering quality training, we are preparing the sector to meet future challenges and offer an exceptional tourist experience,” concluded Ms. Ammor.
