Switzerland has a lot to offer tourists – including locals.

The corona crisis plunges the tourism industry into misery. Many catering companies, hotel businesses and travel providers fear for their existence. No wonder, they want to finally know from the Federal Council how to proceed.
Nothing was decided specifically, but the Federal Council gives hope to the tourism industry. The CVP National Council and Tourism President Nicolo Paganini (53), SG) take a positive balance. “The Federal Council wants to do everything possible to ensure that there is a summer season in Swiss tourism,” he says to BLICK. “So there is also a test order that the gastro scene can open its doors again on May 11th. That is an important perspective. »

Paganini believes that from the third phase of easing on June 8th, “a lot will be possible” if the new containment strategy works. It will be a different season than usual. But you will be able to drive up the offers in a coordinated manner. Paganini: “Swiss people can go on vacation in Switzerland.”

Commitment to safe summer vacation
The Solothurn CVP National Councilor Stefan Müller-Altermatt (43) attended the meeting as President of the Swiss Parks Network. He judges the summit to be “very constructive” and sees certain positive prospects despite all the extreme situations. “This includes the shared commitment that this year we want to make summer holidays safe for the Swiss in Switzerland,” said Müller-Altermatt.

This would require a positive development in the next few weeks. For the Pärke president, this summer could be the “starting signal for sustainable tourism”. «Experience the beauties of our country without a long flight and let yourself be spoiled by regional products and enjoy our culture. That’s great!”

Berset and Parmelin included
In addition to Sommaruga, Health Ministers Alain Berset (48) and Guy Parmelin (60) also attended the meeting. The three magistrates had exchanged views with the industry representatives “about the next stages of easing the protective measures against the corona virus,” tweeted Federal Council spokesman André Simonazzi afterwards.
