Tourism: new funding is coming

Good news for operators in the tourism sector. They will soon be able to benefit from support from the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as part of the revival of their activity.

Morocco is, in fact, part ofa recovery plan of the tourism sector recently implemented by the international financial institution and the UNWTO aimed at mitigating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector. This plan concerns 13 countries in total, including Morocco. These include Tunisia, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon and even Turkey. “Given the unprecedented situation created by the global health crisis, the BERD and UNWTO have decided to join efforts to take immediate action to support the recovery of the sector. These measures focused on the three pillars of the Technical Assistance Program put in place by theIN ORDER TO to support the revival of tourism ”, specifies the EBRD.

The support includes a range of measures such as incentive solutions to revive the sector, protocols to ensure the health security of tourists, actions of promotion marketing to boost demand, or measures aimed at preserving human capital in the sector. It should be noted that these EBRD and UNWTO initiatives would thus be added to the support measures of the Moroccan government to revive the sector.
