Idukki: Tourism Minister PA Muhammad Riaz said that adventure tourism will be developed as a major tourism sector in the state. The Minister was speaking while inaugurating online the International Paragliding Festival, India’s largest aero sports adventure festival, which started at Wagaman. Adventure tourism is the fastest growing tourism sector in the world. The diversity of topography is the specialty of Kerala. The state is in a position to utilize various tourism areas that make this specialty possible. As part of this, Kerala hosts various festivals including the Paragliding Fest. Water Kayaking Festival, Surfing Championship, Kerala International Mountain Biking Championship etc will be organized as part of this. Vazhur Soman MLA presided over the meeting. The festival will take place from 14th to 17th. District Collector Sheeba George, Sub Collector Dr. Arun S Nair, Elapara Gram Panchayat President Ammini Thomas, department employees, various social and political representatives etc. participated in the event.
Tourism development of Munnar is the main agenda of the government
Minister PA Muhammad Riaz said that the tourism development of Munnar, which is an important tourist destination in Kerala, which is known internationally, is the most important agenda of this government. The minister was speaking online while inaugurating the completion of the third phase of construction of Munnar Botanical Garden and Muthirapuzha beautification project under the District Tourism Promotion Council. A children’s park, seats, lighting, etc. have been set up in the Muthirappuzha beautification project behind the District Tourism Promotion Council office located in Old Munnar. The Muthirapuzha Riverside Beautification Project was implemented at a cost of Rs.3 crores and 65 lakhs.
