The volume of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) reached more than 15.35 million overnight stays during the first seven months of 2024, an increase of 8% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Tourism Observatory.
These overnight stays are divided between national tourism (-3% to 4.4 million overnight stays) and international tourism (+13% to 10.9 million overnight stays), the observatory specifies in the statistics on tourism in Morocco for the month of July 2024.
During this period, the destinations Agadir (+17%), Al Haouz (+15%), Marrakech, Casablanca and Essaouira (+8%), and Rabat (+3%) recorded positive results, while Tangier (-1%) and Fez (-7%) showed decreases compared to the end of July 2023, adds the same source.
Regarding foreign currency travel revenues generated by non-resident tourism activity in Morocco, they amounted to 59.39 billion dirhams (MDH) during the first seven months of 2024 against 57.39 MMDH in 2023, an increase of 3.5%.
During this month, the main destinations saw varied performances compared to the previous year, notably Tangier (+15%), Casablanca (+12%), Marrakech (+7%), Agadir (+6%), Rabat and Essaouira (+3%), Al Haouz (-3%) and Fez (-4%).
For their part, travel revenues increased to 10.2 billion dirhams during the month of July 2024 against 9.47 billion dirhams in 2023, an increase of 7.7%.
