Whether it’s the Principal Market, the all-weather zoo or our city’s museums: Münster is becoming increasingly popular with tourists.

Münster Marketing is drawing attention to this today (September 27th) on World Tourism Day. Bernadette Spinnen, Head of Münster Marketing:
Tourism in Münster has developed rapidly in recent years.
The number of overnight stays per year has doubled in the last ten years from 1 million to almost 2 million overnight stays.
Münster fans visit the museums, go out to eat and want to shop. But they also come specifically to the city’s festivals. Tourists bring well over 1 billion euros to Münster every year. Tourism is therefore also an important economic factor. When it comes to the further development of tourism, Münster Marketing is about quality and not just more people.
Fortunately, Münster is not Venice and not Amsterdam. We want everyone to feel comfortable here – the tourists and the locals,
says Bernadette Spiders.
World Tourism Day since 1980
World Tourism Day was launched in 1980 by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Every year on September 27th, it aims to promote awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism.
