Tourism – Freiburg im Breisgau – Association: Black Forest overnight stays in 2020 fell sharply – Society

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – The number of overnight stays in hotels and guesthouses in the Black Forest fell in the Corona year 2020. The Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH announced on Tuesday that there was a decrease of an estimated 35 to 40 percent. This corresponds to a drop in sales of up to three billion euros. The numbers are an estimate because the data for December are not yet available.

In 2019, before the corona pandemic reached Germany, the tourism companies in the Black Forest had generated around 7.55 billion euros in sales. With an advertising campaign in pedestrian zones and social media, the association wants to cushion the consequences of the current lockdown, as managing director Hansjörg Mair explained. Last year we had good experiences with a campaign.
