Tourism associations want money from the federal government

The tourism associations are demanding several billion francs in support from the federal government due to the corona crisis. “In the next ten years, three billion francs will be needed so that the tourism industry does not lose touch,” says Hans Wicki, FDP Council of States and President of the Cable Car Association in the “Sonntags-Zeitung”. The money will be used to renovate railways and hotels. Investments in digitization and sustainability are also needed. It sounds similar from the Valais economics director Christophe Darbellay. He demands that the federal government “help the mountain and tourist cantons that are particularly hard hit”. In total, several billion francs are needed, according to Darbellay. (swisstxt)
