Touré misses future plan and leaves Feyenoord: ‘We see it differently’

Cheick Touré will leave Feyenoord after this season. The nineteen-year-old winger has not reached a deal with the club about a new contract. Feyenoord made two offers to him, agent Melvin Plet informs VoetbalPrimeur.

Touré made his debut in the first of Feyenoord in the 2017/2018 season at the age of sixteen. He was Georginio Wijnaldum after the youngest Eredivisie debutant in the history of the club. Touré disappeared into the background after his debut and will leave Feyenoord after seven seasons.

“We are grateful to Feyenoord for the cooperation that we have had,” Plet of real estate agency Management 4 Players tells this website. “He always had a good time. We got two offers, but we didn’t think they matched how we were. Sometimes you have to shake hands.”

Touré is not about money, but about future prospects, says Plet. Feyenoord had no development plan and offered no perspective. That is why he chooses to leave. “We do not have a bad word about Feyenoord. We only see it differently than they see it. That is not bad at all. It has been in good consultation. We have always kept Feyenoord well informed. They have treated us well. Sometimes come you get to a point and then you have to be an adult and shake hands, “Plet says.

Plet cannot say where the future of Touré lies. Interested clubs can bring him in free of charge. “Several are running thingies. I can’t make any announcements about that yet. Let’s just handle it nicely with Feyenoord first. We will know more in two weeks, but I think it is popular. “

Touré is certainly not the first youth player to close the door of Feyenoord behind earlier than planned. Joshua Zirkzee (Bayern Munich), Melayro Bogarde (Hoffenheim), Tahith Chong (Manchester United) and Nathan Aké (Chelsea) are examples of players who went abroad at a young age. A breakthrough at Feyenoord is not necessarily necessary to achieve success elsewhere, Plet sees.

“I think Feyenoord should also consult with himself. It didn’t just happen to Cheick. Melayro Bogarde now plays in the Bundesliga. He also did not sign a contract. Gustavo Hamer has gone to FC Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle and is now going “We’ve taken Nigel Robertha from Feyenoord to Cambuur. He’s now playing with Levski Sofia. I don’t know.”

Feyenoord says ‘as usual’ not to go into specific situations of players.
