All the gastronomic fairs have been canceled due to a health crisis. But there is no question of standing idly by for these four producers. They have teamed up to make a tour of France of 2,600 km. This takes place from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 December 2020. Main cities served: La Rochelle, Paris, Lyon, Toulon. But also many stops minutes on the way.
La Ferme de Bidache (Gascon black pigs in Castéra-Verduzan), La Ferme du Rantoy (open-air ducks and geese, in Saint-Ost), Organic Panacea (Garlic and gascon black gold processor, in Réjaumont) and Le Domaine Capmartin (Madiran wine and Côtes de Gascogne, in Maumusson-Laguian) are at the origin of this Gers challenge.
Honor the Parisian SAMU caregivers
“We made a stopover in Paris to deliver our customers from the capital. And from the start, we wanted to take the opportunity to do a symbolic gesture fort, with regard to medical personnel ”. explains Audrey Bourrust (La Ferme de Bidache).
In this period of the Covid-19 health crisis, the fine team wanted to thank all caregivers, wherever they are in the territory for their action. And who better than the media Patrick Pelloux, emergency doctor at SAMU to represent all caregivers.
“I contacted him by email. And he answered me half an hour later. He was very excited by the idea and very touched by the gesture ”recalls the young producer.
Alongside all their packages intended for customers, the Gers residents have therefore put together a large-scale package, especially for these women and men of heart, who invested themselves without counting during these long weeks.
The emergency physician Patrick Pelloux came to collect the package of products from Gers directly after his night’s work. He is an extraordinary man, full of generosity. He gave this package to all of the caregivers in his department. He knew the Gers because he had already come 10 years ago to support the staff of the Auch hospital
Involve the Top 14 clubs in this Tour de France
But this project is not just a simple delivery round. The team has decided to involve the big Top 14 clubs in the event. After all, isn’t rugby a sport from the south west? The dream combination with Gers products.
Audrey Bourrust explains: “My husband being a former rugby player, we wanted to associate this sport with our Tour de France. At each stage, we made our deliveries to the headquarters of each Rugby club. It was an opportunity for our customers to meet prestigious names rugby when they came to pick up their products ”. Thus customers were able to meet Bernard Laporte, President of the FFR, or even Jean-Marc Doussain in Lyon or Patrice Collazo in Toulon.
The “Tour Producers” project was supported by the Departmental Council of Gers, which in particular covered the rental costs of the refrigerated utility vehicle.
“Rugby and caregivers are the same values”
The project showed great consistency. Audrey explains: “there are many common values between rugby and caregivers. This spirit of give without counting, this attachment to others or the team spirit. Patrick Pelloux and his colleagues are men of heart and do not count the hours when they work ”
