Jews have been part of Hamburg society for over 400 years. They shaped, changed and redefined the development of the Hanseatic city.
Our tour takes us through the Grindelviertel, formerly the center of Jewish life in Hamburg. The path leads past the former Bornplatz Synagogue, the Talmud Torah School, the Jewish Salon and the Hamburger Kammerspiele. Today the Jewish community in Hamburg is again one of the largest in Germany. We discover the history of the stumbling blocks that commemorate the victims of the Nazi era and learn where and how Jewish life finds its place in Hamburg today.
