Tour de France this year with Herring and Neiland / Day

Continuing the practice of recent years, the world’s most famous cycling competition – “Tour de France” – will start outside France this year as well. The first three stages will take place at the end of this week in Denmark, which boasts many very high-class cyclists. This year, the usual 21 stages are included in the tour. Of these, the first five will be the plain stages, which will soon be followed by the mountain stage (seventh stage). A series of three mountain stages from stages 10 to 12 will be a serious test, but the decisive battle for the overall ranking is expected in stages 15, 16 and 17.

After a one-year break, two cyclists from the Latvian highway will start in the most prestigious multi-day cycling season of the season. For the fifth time in a row, we will see the Latvian champion Tomas Skujiņš in the individual race. It is significant that this is also the fifth year for Tom as a driver of the “Trek – Segafredo” team. Before participating in the national championship, our athlete proved to be very successful in the “Critērija du Dauphiné” world tour multi-day cycling ride, where the Latvian ranked 33rd overall.

So far, Skujiņa’s highest success in career has been the second place in the 8th stage of 2020. This year, in addition to Tom’s “Trek – Segafredo”, the leading forces on the tour will be Dane Mad Pedersen, US talent Queens Simons, experienced Bauke Mollem and classic master Jaspers Streevens.

After a year break, we will see Christ Neiland on the Tour de France. Although Kuldīga did not manage to realize himself in the Latvian championship, Neilands, who is called “Trako”, can definitely get positive emotions on the tour. Christ was in great shape on a recent tour of Switzerland, where Christ was the biggest helper for teammate Jakob Fuglsang in the fight for victory in the overall standings.

Dane was third in the overall standings. At the time of his debut, Krists was a great helper for the team, not entering the TOP 10. It is believed that in one of the stages this year, a Latvian will have the opportunity to compete for a great result himself. The leaders of Krista’s team this year will be Michael Woods from Canada and Jakob Fuglsang from Denmark. The legendary Chris Frum will also start, although he has not approached his former form.
