Tour de France Stage 20: Last Mountain Stage with Carlos Rodriguez’s Crash and Uno-X’s Objectives

The 20th stage is the last mountain stage of the Tour de France. The stage consists of a total of six mountain climbs and is 133 kilometers long. The Tour de France ends tomorrow with the legendary finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, Sunday.

LATEST: The Tour de France stage is underway and is over the first climb. Overall rider Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) is in 4th place and wants to take back 3rd place, but crashed badly recently. The Spaniard is back on the bike, but very bloody.

– He has received a severe cut above his left eye. It’s almost like in the boxing ring, where you try to patch them together between rounds, commented TV 2’s Christian Paasche, while Rodriguez received help from the ambulance.

Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) was also involved in the overturn.

Several riders have tried to recover from a breakdown, but without success. It is expected that Norwegian Halland Johannessen will try his hand at a break, but he is said to have yet to try.

Ahead of the stage, sports director Kurt Asle Arvesen spoke about Uno-X’s objectives for the day.

– We still have hope of a stage win and will try to get Tobias to break, says Arvesen to TV 2.

Drøbak cyclist Halland Johannessen is excited about today’s heavy stage.

– There are lots of mountains and ups and downs all day. I hope to be at the front and fight for the stage from a break. We’ll see if the main field lets us go. It’s going to be an insane fireworks display. All you have to do is fasten your seat belt, he tells TV 2 before the start.

After 19 stages, he has three top ten positions and impressed greatly. Today’s stage is considered his last opportunity.

It will still be tough as Jonas Vingegaard, who leads the race overall, will also win his first stage win.

– He was furious

But it is probably not just the two riders who want to cross the finish line first.

The Danish rider rides in the yellow jersey and leads comfortably by seven minutes and 35 seconds ahead of Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
